Hold on to your friends - Will H inspired by Langston H - Mindmap 07 - VIP

Hold on tight to your friends for if they go

Life is a chaos of to and fro

Friends give us roots without which we are lost

Life without friends is like an endless desert to be crossed

by William H.

This poem is the final product of a very complex task. The kids were given a poem by Langston Hughes. They were then asked to comment on the meaning. What does the peom mean to them? Next, they had to come up with a song-version of that poem (a melody to go with the words and carry the meaning). So there actually IS a recorded version of Will singing the Langston Hughes poem to his mum - using a tune he composed himself. Unfortunately we cannot publish this version here.
Only the last step was writing a poem similar to the model - but on the topic of "friends".

Can you guess at the original (model) poem by Langston Hughes?

If you want to see and hear more of Will, stay tuned and return for the next posts!
