Slip, slop, slap, seek and slide. Have fun in the sun but don´t get fried.

Dear Class,
as you probably know, in Australia the sun is much more powerful as it is in Austria. So everybody should protect themselves from the dangerous UVA and UVB rays to not get sunburned. But did you know that having a tan is as bad for your skin as a sunburn? If your skin turns brown, it means that it already reacted to damage from sun rays. Getting a tan is nothing else than a defence strategy of the skin. And that is a very bad thing because any sort of damaged cells can lead to getting skin cancer later, not only sunburned skin. So this is why in Australia every little child learns how to protect them properly from the sun.
There are 5 simple rules to follow:
·      Slip on some clothes
·      Slop on sunscreen
·      Slap on a hat
·      Seek shade
·      Slide on sunglasses (or as the Australians say: "sunnies")

Are you having a hard time remembering these rules?  No worries, here is a catchy song that will definitely help you:

And now you can try to get rid of that little tune! ;-)

Bye for now!
Thalia
